Welcome to Northeastern Panhellenic’s primary recruitment registration. We are glad you found us! If you want to feel connected, supported and encouraged, sorority life is for you. Registering for primary recruitment is the first step to finding your home in the Panhellenic sorority community on campus.

We want to educate and equip you to embark on your journey as a potential new member (PNM). Check out the sections below to learn more about Panhellenic sorority membership and involvement at Northeastern!

Recruitment Logistics

  • Please find our full recruitment schedule below. While exact times are still being finalized, this will give you a general idea of the times you will attend recruitment events. Each day is an important part of the process, and therefore you must attend all scheduled events. If you have a previous commitment (class or other University sponsored event, family commitment like a wedding, etc.), we will do our best to accommodate your schedule. You will have an opportunity to submit conflicts once you register.

    • Thursday, September 28th (evening): Potential New Member Orientation

      • Time to connect with your Recruitment Counselor (Rho Gamma) and group for the week, as well as to learn more about recruitment and membership in a Panhellenic organization

    • Saturday, September 30th (all day): Open House Round

      • Visit each of our Panhellenic sororities (chapters) for 20 minutes each and get a high level overview of their organization, as well as a chance to introduce yourself to them

    • Sunday, October 1st (all day): Philanthropy Round

      • Visit up to 8 chapters for 25 minutes each and learn more about the philanthropy they support as an organization

    • Saturday, October 7th (all day): Sisterhood Round

    • Sunday, October 8th (all day): Preference Round

      • Visit up to 2 chapters for an hour each and learn more about their ritual and what their membership means to them

    • Tuesday, October 10th (evening): Bid Day

      • Celebrate with the chapter you receive a bid from!

Eligibility

  • Eligibility to go through the Panhellenic Primary Recruitment process is limited to individuals who consistently live and self-identify as women (per NPC policy) and who are undergraduate students enrolled at Northeastern University who pay the Student Activity Fee. Students in NU Immerse or other conditional acceptance programs are unable to go through recruitment until they are regularly matriculated students enrolled at Northeastern University.

Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA)

  • At the end of Preference Round, all potential new members will be required to sign an MRABA. This is an agreement with the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC). Clear instructions will be provided throughout the recruitment process and there will be ample time for questions or clarification prior to signing.

  • Find more information about the MRABA here

Time Commitments

  • Membership in a Panhellenic organization comes with a few commitments, one of those being time. As a new member, there are expectations that will likely include attending weekly new member education meetings and chapter business meetings. Some weeks there may be additional mandatory events, and often there are plenty of optional events. You will gain skills in time management and it is definitely true that you get out of it what you put in.

  • If you want to learn more about the time commitments of a specific chapter, we encourage you to ask about that during recruitment rounds!

Financial Obligations and Membership Costs

  • There are also financial obligations to be a member. Membership costs vary from $300-$600 per semester.

  • Financial transparency information will be available later this summer that outlines specific costs per chapter. This information will also be shared with each potential new member throughout the recruitment process.

  • Dues and fees associated with membership cover the costs associated with events (like sisterhood events, social events, etc.), your badge or pin, fees paid to your inter/national organization that go towards staff costs and experiences like leadership conferences, and general operating expenses.

Academic Expectations

  • Before a sorority member, you are a student first.

  • Most chapters have academic expectations and strive to be part of your academic success as a student at Northeastern.

  • There is no GPA requirement to register for Panhellenic recruitment, however, some chapters have GPA requirements to be accepted into membership. Additionally, each chapter or inter/national organization sets the academic requirements for members and will provide academic support mechanisms to members who need them.
